About this event

  • 12 days 6 hours

This subject leadership community offers a collaborative network for all leaders of Maths to come together at various points throughout the academic year. It provides an opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of teaching approaches; of their wider roles; and of their capacity with their colleagues to transform secondary maths learning. Participants will work collaboratively with other subject leaders, discuss developments and engage with research, and use this experience to inform their work in leading and developing maths education in school.

The three dates for the community in the 2023-24 academic year are as follows, with two locations to choose from - all (a light lunch will be provided)

Subject Leaders Community 1 : Weydon School, Farnham

Thurs 23 November 12.30pm - 5.00pm,

Monday 5 February 12.30pm - 5.00pm,

Wednesday 12 June 11am - 3pm.

Subject Leaders Community 2: Merstham Park School, Redhill

Thurs 16 November 12.30pm - 5.00pm,

Monday 5 February 12.30pm - 5.00pm,

Monday 24 June 12.30pm - 5.00pm.

A common theme of all sessions will be that subject leaders will work collaboratively to design and plan PD sessions for their departments, but there will also be two-three key foci for each session, suiting the time of year, to stimulate discussion. These foci will include the Ofsted subject report, upcoming exams, sharing good practice across the department, timetabling decisions, supporting non-specialist teachers, departmental 'non-negotiables', assessment, and metacognition - as well as any others which subject leaders would like to discuss.
